The U.S. Department of Energy has a neat video here that demonstrates how to carve pumpkins with clean energy themes. The department also points out that 250 million tons of pumpkins end up in U.S. landfills each year as a result of Halloween. Turning those pumpkins and other organic wastes into biofuels such as jet fuel and diesel would be much better than letting them rot and release methane into the atmosphere.
